Adriana Álvarez was born and raised in San José, Costa Rica, where she started acting at an early age. Before perusing her MFA at ASDS she did a BA in Journalism. During this time, Adriana participated in three feature films (Gestation, Port Father and Cold Water of the Sea) that earned her five awards for best acting in different Film Festivals around the world. She began her acting education in Buenos Aires, Argentina before moving to NYC in 2012. She also has done professional theatre and television back in Costa Rica, as well as numerous short films.
