Born and raised in Chicago by two clinical psychologists, Alison Lani had little choice but to be fascinated the complexities of affect, motivation, character and behavior.
Her love of the stage began in grade school productions of "The Brementown Musicians" and "The Jungle Book". While in high school in a Chicago suburb, she pursued her passion in Speech, Contest Play, and other dramatic arts.
Upon receiving a BFA in acting from Ithaca College, Alison returned to Chicago to pursue a professional career. She appeared in productions at First Folio Theatre, Chicago Dramatists, Writers Theatre and Redmoon Theatre, as well as regionally, as Laura in the Cleveland Playhouse production of "The Glass Menagerie" opposite Linda Purl.
A life-long learner, Alison continued her studies with Steve Scott of the Goodman Theatre and Michael Gellman at The Second City. Through The Second City, she met friends and collaborators who inspired her to start writing and self-producing her own content, beginning with "The Real Housewives of Fargo".
At this time, she began to work steadily on-screen, both commercially and theatrically, appearing in Chicago indie films, "Book of Matches" and "Closing Time".
The following year, Alison moved to Los Angeles and began working on the set of "Hawthorne" and fell in love with the community and camaraderie of episodic television. Shortly thereafter, she appeared in her first lead in a feature film, "Hazard Jack" directed by David Worth and made her Los Angeles stage debut as Alais in "The Lion in Winter" opposite John Lee and Diane Hurley.
While studying at the Upright Citizens Brigade in Hollywood, she set to work creating, writing, and producing her comedy webseries, "Burning Bridges", exploring all manner of millennial idiocy with friend and UCB classmate, Natalie Palamides. "Burning Bridges" went on to screen at Roma Cinema Doc, Womens' Only Entertainment Film Festival, and won Best Webseries at Miami Independent Film Festival (2015).
In the summer of 2015, Alison signed with Houghton Talent in Atlanta and began working as a local hire in Hollywood East. You can catch her guest-starring on the SONY series, "Powers" (2016).
In her spare time, Alison is an avid writer, reader, and fitness fanatic.
