Amira El Sayed - Biography

Amira El Sayed is an Egyptian-Austrian actress based in Berlin, Germany. She spent her early years living in Alexandria, Egypt and moved back to Austria with her family at the age of three. She was brought up bilingual with both Arabic and German. At the age of sixteen she moved to Vienna where she studied acting at the renowned Max Reinhardt-Seminar. She left University in the first year of studying to be able to work on the theatre play "The Cleopatra Club" (written by Paul Schrader) where she was noticed by her agent. At the age of 20 she wrote a book about the political developments in Egypt. "Klang der Freiheit" (The sound of freedom) was published in 2013 by the publishing house "Letter P" in Austria. She moved to Berlin at the age of 21 and worked on several film productions such as: "Die verbotene Frau", "Bretonisches Gold", "Goethe@Kisbekistan", "4 Frauen und 1 Todesfall" and "Sex, Drugs and Rock'n'Roll". Her first international film was "A Hologram for the King", starring Tom Hanks and directed by Tom Tykwer.
