Anthony Meindl - Biography

Mr. Meindl is an award-winning screenwriter/director/actor/teacher and author. He is the founder and artistic director of the famous Anthony Meindl's Actor Workshop in Los Angeles and New York (and also now in Melbourne, Sydney and London). He has taught such famous actors as Golden Globe nominee Shailene Woodley, Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), Cory Monteith (Glee), Trevor Donovan (90210), Allison Miller (Go On), Jenna Dewan-Tatum (American Horror Story), Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson & The Olympians) and many others.

His studio, named "The Best Acting Studio in Los Angeles" in 2011 & 2012 by Backstage Magazine, is the most sought-after actor training center in LA with a 6-month wait-list to enroll in classes.

As a writer/director/producer, Mr. Meindl has won a number of awards in theatre and film. His first short film - 'Ready? OK!' - played in over a dozen film festivals where it was nominated for numerous "Best of the Fest" awards. It was sold to MTV's Logo Network as part of their "Click List: Best in Short Film" series. A TV pilot he created, 'Birds of a Feather', was nominated as "Best Pilot" at the prestigious Banff World Television Festival last year. Seeing an opportunity to tell a bigger story, he developed this project into his first feature film (also titled 'Birds of a Feather'). Premiering at the Indies-In-Progress event for upcoming U.S. independent filmmakers at the American Film Festival in Wroclaw, Poland, the film also went on to win the Spirit of the Festival Award at the 2012 Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival and Mr. Meindl won Best Director at the Downtown LA Film Fest.

As a theatrical director, the first and second plays he ever directed were both nominated for LA Weekly Awards for "Best Drama" and "Best Comedy" and he was also nominated as Best Director for both plays ('Dogs Barking' and 'Swimming in the Shallows'). The casts of both were also nominated as "Best Ensemble."

Mr. Meindl's written work has been awarded numerous times. His first feature film script, 'The Wonder Girls', won the Grand Prize Award in the Slamdance Film Festival's Screenwriting Competition. Previous winners of this prestigious award include the Oscar-nominated 'Maria Full of Grace' and 'The Woodsman'. 'The Wonder Girls' is currently in pre-production.

His first book, the Amazon best-selling, 'At Left Brain Turn Right', was honored by the San Francisco Festival of Books and has generated buzz from such award-winning writers as the New York Times bestselling author, Steven Pressfield and Agape church founder and author, Michael Beckwith.
