Ashley Stuart James Cook was born in Frimley, County Surrey in the United Kingdom. He lived in Farnborough for a short period of time before moving to Northern Ireland with his mother, younger sister and brother.
He studied at Victoria Primary School, participating in a number of school productions such as Annie the musical, before moving to Strangford Integrated College in 2007 for secondary education. Originally having little interest in acting he pursued other aspirations, this was before getting a lead role in a television programme in 2012.
