Carla was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, then grew up in Port Coquitlam, B.C., and later Langley, B.C., with her 2 sisters and 1 brother.
After high school, she became an international model doing print, catalogs, and commercials for 10 years then, at age 26, decided she was tired of traveling overseas, so she decided to try acting.
She took acting classes, and then on her first audition landed a role on the TV series Poltergeist, les aventuriers du surnaturel (1996) as "Isabella". She then proceeded to land roles in various TV shows, like Au-delà du réel - l'aventure continue (1995), Millennium (1996), Stargate SG-1 (1997) and The Chris Isaak Show (2001) and then movies like Diablesse (2001) in 2001, then, eventually moved to New York.
On Sci-Fi's Stargate SG-1 (1997), she guest-starred as the original "Oma Desala" in the episode, Stargate SG-1: Maternal Instinct (2000), who later became a pivotal character, played by Mel Harris, in the series.
She is a mother of 2, and her talents and hobbies include guitar, singing, cooking, baking, sewing, painting, drawing, and crafts.
