Chapman Kan - Biography

Chapman Kan has dual-expertise in the crafting of space in the Motion Pictures and Human Habitat.

During Chapman's early years as an aspiring designer, he developed a set of refined skills in design and fabrication. Whilst young, he was fortunate to receive tutelage from Artist Wong Tin-Yan (Junk Wood Sculpture), which helped him form an understanding for materials and practical problem solving. Thanks to certain academic and professional bursaries, he was allowed to practice with some of the most established practitioners in Design, such as Marta Pelegrin (Mediomundo Arquitectos), Liam Young (Tomorrow's Thoughts Today) and Terry Ackland-Snow (Film Design International).

In hope to shape, change, and improve the Human Habitat, he participates in charity projects frequently. He has built Sustainable Housing Unit for Solar Decathlon in Madrid, Pedestrian Bridge for rural Chinese Village in Yunan, Sustainable Urban Interventions in Japanese Village in Niigata Prefecture, and more recently, Art Directed Films for charitable organizations.

Following his passion of drawing, as well as utilizing knowledge of the built environment, Chapman now focuses on working in Art Department for Film and TV.
