Charlie was born in 1994 in London to actress Pauline Quirke and her producer husband Steve Sheen. At school he had no interest in following in his mother's foot-steps, being more interested in football, but when he was ten Pauline enrolled him at an acting camp and in 2006 he made his television debut in an uncredited role in 'The Thieving Headmistress' with Pauline in the lead. In 2012 Pauline reunited with her co-stars from the hit sitcom 'Birds of a Feather', Lesley Joseph and Linda Robson, to tour in a stage version and Charlie joined her playing Linda's son Travis, a role he repeated in the revival of the television series.
