Chris was born on February 25th, 1988 in Topeka, KS, where he was also raised. His father, John Bylsma, moved from the West Coast to the Midwest, eventually settling in Topeka & starting his own business from scratch. His mother, Heidi [Robson] Bylsma, got her degree in education & raised 9 kids born over a 20 year range.
Having never taken a drama class in school, it wasn't until shortly after high school that Chris began watching more films & studying every angle of the filmmaking process - especially the actors. Still working a full-time job in Topeka, Chris began to uncover audition opportunities in nearby Kansas City, & in 2009 he received a part in the first feature he auditioned for. When he wasn't acting, he was learning as many details as possible of each position, & eventually he'd acted in over 20 films & held nearly every crew position possible in at least that many more, before moving from his hometown of Topeka to Kansas City in 2012.
Through June 2015, Chris has been in over 150 films (features or shorts), TV shows, webisodes, & commercials; over 20 of which have won multiple awards, including Regional Emmys & 4 individual Best Acting awards. He's also worked behind the camera as director, producer, editor, & in casting - winning 7 awards for films directed in 2012 & 2013, & being awarded the 2014 Emerging Filmmaker Award from the Kansas City Film Fest.
In June he made the move to Albuquerque, NM, & is looking forward to the new experiences to come.
