Darius Cottrell - Biography

Darius Cottrell was born on a Sunday, December 7th, in the family home of his grandparents in Pineville, SC. Maude E. Callen was the mid-wife that delivered him. His first taste of the arts was in high school, were he performed as one of the characters from his book report in front of the class. In 1988, he graduated from St. Stephen High School.

Putting his love for the arts on hold, Darius joined the U.S. Marine Corps on February 1989. During this time, he has been on two tours of duties and received many awards including a Combat Action Ribbon for his service in "Desert Storm" (August 1990 - March 1991). He has also served in Somalia for "Operation Restore Hope" (December 1992 - May 1993).

When his Marine Corps career was coming to a close, Darius put his plan back in motion, already station at MCAS Miramar in California, he began pursuing his acting career. He did just that by getting cast in the 1999 crime drama "The Generals Daughter", opposite Leslie Stefanson. He has been blessed to be cast opposite of some notable talent like Ice Cube, Rob Morrow, Daniel Zacapa, Kerry Washington, Matthew McConaughey and Bradley Cooper.

You may have notice Darius in various commercials and print ads. Being a military vet, he has done several PSA's. The latest one is for "Homeless Vets". This PSA is also part of a national billboard campaign asking to support homeless Vets.

When Darius is not in front of the camera, he goes back to his roots, performing in the theater.
