David Sant - Biography

David Sant is a director and actor known for Jonathan Creek, Bluestone 42 and Benidorm. He was born in Catalonia in 1968. Originally from an industrial town near near Barcelona he has worked in comedy since his teenage years. Before becoming a director he was an actor, a mime artist, a puppeteer and a stuntman. His first paid job was as an acrobat and stuntman in the Barcelona Opera Del Liceo in 1986. After performing stunts in nine operas he founded a puppetry theatre company and toured all over Europe. He spent two summers in Paris and Rome learning physical comedy from the French and Italian teachers. He got a job at the National Theatre of Rome as a mask performer. He moved to London in the early nineties where he performed and directed for many physical theatre companies winning several awards at different international festivals. In 2006 he was approached by the BBC to bring his comedy skills to television and has been directing sitcoms and comedy dramas ever since.
