Derek Brandon - Biography

Derek Brandon, star of the newly released live-action family adventure film, Pirates Code: The Adventures of Mickey Matson, is no stranger to the big screen. Although perhaps best known for his role as "Mickey" in the Mickey Matson franchise, Derek has appeared in over 15 films alongside notable actors as: Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman), Matt Lillard (Scream & Scooby-Doo), David Carradine (Kung Fu & Kill Bill), Florence Henderson (Brady Bunch), Richard Karn (Home Improvement), Lee Arenberg (Pirates of the Caribbean), and Ernie Hudson (Ghost Busters). Most recently, as the lead in both Adventures of Mickey Matson and The Copperhead Treasure as well as Pirates Code: The Adventures of Mickey Matson, Derek had the pleasure of working with other greats, such as, Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Kenton Duty (Shake It Up, Disney), Savannah Jayde (Big Time Rush, Nickelodeon), Francesca DeRosa (Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader?), and Patrika Darbo (Days of Our Lives).

After witnessing Derek re-enact every film he watched, his parents made the decision to enroll him in the Civic Theater. This lead to numerous acting opportunities, on and off stage, and eventually landed him voice over work as the voice of Tom Sawyer on the Mark Twain Boat Ride in Disneyland, California, as well as national commercials for Corn Pops Cereal and GMC, among others.

In addition to his newest Mickey Matson release, Derek can also be seen this year in Kevin Sorbo's new film, Rodeo Girl, opposite actress Sophie Bolen. Regarding what's next for this young film veteran, Derek answered, "There is talk about the final adventure of Mickey Matson, with writer/director Harold Cronk, but in the meantime fans can expect to see me in the new independent film, Crowning Jules, with Kevin Farley and Hollywood newcomers, Jacqueline and Elizabeth Labadie. Derek was also cast as a main character along side Patrick Schwarzenegger and Jacob Lofland (Maze Runner - Scorch Trials) in a post-apocalyptic thriller titled "North". Great time on set this past summer with cast and crew! Look for this adventure film to come out in 2016! Beyond this, I'm striving to keep my 4.0 GPA, help out my basketball team, and work to further establish myself in Hollywood."

This up-and-coming teenage heartthrob has passed the CHSPE (California High School Proficiency Exam) which enables him to work as "Legal 18", although he still attends high school. Derek is represented by CESD Talent Agency in Hollywood, California. IMDb Mini Biography By: Lucas Miles, Miles Media
