Diane Sargent - Biography

Diane Sargent is a Los Angeles based actress who works in film, television and commercials. She is best known for her role as a feisty bowling alley owner in the feature film, Maul Dogs (2014), along side Eric Roberts and a woman who finds a severed head in a dumpster in the horror flick, Cut! (2014). She has also starred in the short film, Details, directed by Jason Mewes.

Diane was born in South Africa where she spent her childhood exploring the African Bushveld on her family's small goldmine in the Transvaal. She describes herself as a "tomboy" that preferred shooting a bow and arrow over playing with dolls.

When she was ten years old, Diane along with her parents and sisters, left South Africa on a 43 foot sailboat that they had built themselves. They sailed for two years, crossing the Atlantic, island hopping in the Caribbean and then making their way through the Panama Canal, up the coast of Mexico to San Diego, California.

Once they had settled down in San Diego, Diane's family founded an ostrich ranch, located near the San Diego Wild Animal Park. The ostrich ranch is still in operation.

It was in San Diego that Diane discovered her two passions; acting and holistic health. Diane became active in the San Diego Junior Theater when she was 14 and went on to perform in many shows throughout high school, including the Henry Kemp-Blair Shakespeare Festival at Chapman college for which she won best of show for her performance in Taming of the Shrew. After high school, Diane earned her degrees in Acupuncture and Chinese medicine and became a physician in Chinese medicine and a licensed acupuncturist. She opened a successful natural health center in Del Mar, Ca where she specialized in treating pain and women's health. As the health center grew, Diane began to develop an online directory of acupuncturists and an informational website about alternative medicine. The directory (Acufinder.com) grew to be the largest in the United States and the informational website evolved into a printed magazine with a distribution of over 120,000 magazines.

Her success in the fields of Chinese medicine and publishing and the subsequent sale of several of her online companies to a private equity investor allowed her to focus on more creative endeavors including acting and writing. She began acting in improvisational comedy theater and obtained her first on-screen parts in movies, short films and on television.

In 2012 Diane published her first children's book, "Mommy Says You Are What You Eat."
