Dorothy Van - Biography

A native of Moline, Illinois she was the daughter of a post office worker and Depression era housewife. She started her career as a stage actress in 1946 despite her fathers objections and later emerged as an actress and writer for television in the 1980s situation comedy "Mama's Family" in the role of Aunt Effie Harper.
