Gabriel Chavarria - Biography

Gabriel Chavarria is an actor best known for his lead role in the hit series "East Los High" on Hulu.com. He has been seen in films such as Freedom Writers , A Better Life and in various hit television shows such as South Land, Prime Suspect, Major Crimes to name a few. He has worked in commercials and has done print ads for Powerade and Adidas. His first appearance as an actor was in the film Freedom Writers starring academy award winning actress Hilary Swank. He was at the age of sixteen years old when he was discovered at a local recreational park attending a meeting for his basketball team. Holding auditions at the park he was asked to audition for the role of Tito. He initially turned it down until his older brother convinced him to audition. After going through the whole audition process a month later he received the call from casting offering him the role. Since then he has dedicated himself to entertainment and mastering the craft of acting.

Before that life changing event Gabriel was growing up as an exceptional athlete in soccer and basketball. As a soccer athlete at the age of thirteen he was selected to the Olympic Development Program (ODP) of California. He was invited to play in tournaments in Spain and England. Growing up he won numerous individual awards from league mvps to wining scoring titles in high school for most goals. In 2008 he flew out to Honduras his parents home town and tried out for Club Deportivo Marathon and made it to the reserve squad. Having to juggle between his two passions led him to ultimately deciding to come back to LA and continue acting. Gabriel is a product of soccer club West Coast Elite FC. When he is not working in entertainment he is heavily involved with supporting the charity organization iod4kids.org, his church RLA and coaching kids at West Coast Elite FC. He loves music and fashion. The most important thing in the world to him are his family.
