Giovanna Lin - Biography

Giovanna Lin was born on February 8th, 1992 in Vancouver, BC, Canada to a Taiwanese-Japanese family. As an avid five-year-old Disney fan, Giovanna discovered her love for performing by playing out scenes from The Lion King and Snow White with her father. Then, at seven years old, she began playing the piano. A few years later, she started to perform solo and ensemble works onstage. In 2002, she and her teammates won 2nd place in the Internationaler Wettbewerb für Klavier zu sechs Händen, an international piano trio competition in Germany. Aside from the piano, she has experimented with a variety of other musical instruments, such as the euphonium and ocarina. Today, her main instruments are piano and flute, and she is also a singer. Not only does Giovanna perform music, but she also writes her own original work.

In 2002, a short story she wrote was published in Read All About It!: A book of short stories from Young Writers of Canada.

Around the age of ten was when Giovanna truly discovered acting. She has participated in a few local theatre programs such as the Young Shakespeareans Workshop at Bard on the Beach and Gotta Sing! Gotta Dance!. At the time, those acting experiences were "just for fun", so in 2011, she made the decision to obtain formal training at Vancouver Acting School, and in March 2012, she graduated with a diploma from The Intensive program.

In May of 2012, she completed the Dov SS Simens' 2-Day Film School.

Giovanna now coins herself as a well-rounded creator and performer of the arts: Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, composer; actor, writer, director, filmmaker; Visual artist.

She is also an avid fan of noodles of any kind.
