Hugo Ateo was born in Mexico City and began acting at age 6. He received extensive acting training at various schools including the prestigious National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA) in Mexico. At age 19 Hugo was awarded a full scholarship to the Russian Acting School in Mexico where he completed his education.
He has performed in theatre most of his life in various amateur and professional productions and after a brief stint at the National Theatre Company, Hugo was invited to join one of the largest television production companies in Mexico, TV Azteca. As part of the main cast in four different programs, he accrued more than 1000 aired episodes.
Hugo moved to Canada in 2004, where he continued acting in movies and television. He currently (2013) resides in Vancouver, Canada.
