Ilan Eshkeri - Biography

Ilan Henry Eshkeri is a British/French composer and songwriter known for his film scores, songwriting collaborations, concert work and video game scores.

Most recently Eshkeri collaborated with the world renowned visual artists The Chapman Brothers on their film The Marriage of Reason and Squalor and scored Aardman Animations' Shaun The Sheep, as well as writing the songs for the film with Nick Hodgson of Kaiser Chiefs and Tim Wheeler of Ash.

Eshkeri has also collaborated with KT Tunstall, Tom Odell, Coldplay, Kasabian, Burial, David Gilmour, Annie Lennox and Marius DeVries. He worked with Amon Tobin on a live symphonic performance of his work, wrote the song 'Only You' for Sinead O'Connor, worked with Take That on his score to the film Stardust and has been commissioned to write for the world renowned classical pianist Lang Lang.

Recent film work includes Still Alice, for which Julianne Moore won an Oscar, Kevin Macdonald's Black Sea starring Jude Law, 47 Ronin starring Keanu Reeves, and the Oscar nominated The Invisible Woman, Ralph Fiennes' second outing as a director. Ilan continues to write the music for Sims, one of the world's largest video game franchises. Other films include Oscar winning The Young Victoria, Kick Ass and Stardust.

Eshkeri's various live performances include The Snowman & The Snowdog, a collaboration with singer/songwriter Andy Burrows, performed live to picture. Eshkeri has performed with Spice Girl Mel C (Sporty Spice), James Corden (The Late Late Show), Nick Laird-Clowes (The Dream Academy) and has conducted his own works at The Louvre in Paris, The Rudolfinum in Prague and The Royal Albert Hall in London.

Amongst his awards are a Wildscreen Panda Award for the score to David Attenborough's Natural History Museum Alive, and an International Film Music Critics Association 'Best Original Score' for Stardust. His nominations include the score to The Snowman & The Snowdog (BAFTA), his score to The Young Victoria (Ivor Novello), and a 'Discovery of the Year' nomination from the World Soundtrack Awards for his first film score, Layer Cake.

Eshkeri is currently commissioned to compose a ballet, and is completing his score to Collide starring Anthony Hopkins, Ben Kingsley, Nicholas Hoult & Felicity Jones.
