Irene Escolar - Biography

Irene Escolar, born in 1988 in Madrid, Spain, is the sixth generation of a family of actors. She trained in an acting school in Madrid for four years and did an intensive course in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. As well as her acting training she is finishing a degree in English language and literature. She is fluent in English and French. Her professional life includes fourteen films such as "The seventh day" or "The blind sunflowers" and more recently "The broken crown", "Altamira" directed by Hugh Hudson and her first leading role in "Un otoño sin Berlin". On stage she has worked in sixteen productions. Such as David Mamet's "Oleanna" (for her performance she won the Critic's Eye Award), Tom Stoppard's "Rock n Roll", "August: Osage County", "Of Mice and Men" or "The cripple of Inishmaan". In TV she played with great success Queen Juana the Mad in the recognized television series "Isabel".
