Iulia Valentina Verdes studied Ion Cojar's method acting under Mircea Gheorghiu at National University of Theatre and Film from Bucharest and then earned her master's degree in acting at the same university. She made her first film appearance in a leading role in the critically acclaimed independent movie Elevator (2008). She went on to play in various theatre shows and films like Terry Gilliam's Zero Theorem (2013), starring Christoph Waltz, or Ultimul Zburator (2014), the first magical realism movie made in Romania.
