J.J. Totah - Biography

J.J. Totah, a fourteen year-old San Francisco Bay Area native, can be seen in the breakout role of 'Justin' in the feature film "Other People" starring Jessie Plemons and Molly Shannon which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Totah received critical praise for his role with Variety including Totah on their list of breakout actors from Sundance declaring that Totah had a "scene-stealing performance" and "deserves a bigger platform." InStyle Magazine listed Totah as one of the "Top 10 Stars to Watch" and the "Most Inspiring" actor from Sundance and Vulture Magazine stated "It won't be hard to find Totah after his star making performance" with a feature article titled "Meet the 14-Year Old That Won Sundance."

After moving to Los Angeles at the age of ten, Totah began performing stand-up comedy at the Hollywood Improv and soon thereafter started developing an impressive list of credits. Totah is most known for his television work particularly in the recurring roles of 'Myron' on the Fox hit series "Glee" and as 'Stuart' on the Disney Channel series "Jessie" and in the series regular role of 'Michael' on the ABC comedy "Back in the Game" with James Caan and Maggie Lawson. He has also guest starred on CBS' "2 Broke Girls," Fox's "New Girl" and TV Land's "The Exes" and could also be heard in the Disney animated series "Sofia the First," and Disney's "Nina Needs to Go." Totah is also starring in the family friendly action feature film "Time Toys" directed by Mark Rosman which premieres in 2016 and recently filmed television pilots for both Fox and Disney.

Totah grew up in Northern California, with an older sister and older brother. He holds charitable organizations focused on autism close to his heart as his older brother has autism. He also serves as a young voice for victims of bullying; participating in anti-bullying PSAs for GLAAD and showing his support for GLSEN, an organization that empowers LGBT and straight youth to work together to make their schools safer for all students and to end bullying of all kinds. He also enjoys writing television scripts and hopes to be on the production side of television and film one day. His true passion lies in surprising his audience and bringing the unexpected. Totah gets a great sense of joy and pleasure in making others laugh.
