Jackie Torrens is actor, writer and documentary-maker. She plays social worker Drucie McKay in the OUTtv mini-series Sex and Violence, which also stars Olympia Dukakis. Torrens has been nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Actress for this role. Torrens' radio documentary The Poet Laureate of Youth Now - about a young poet in prison for 2nd degree murder - won the Atlantic Journalism Award. Her television documentaries for CBC and the Documentary Channel, which she directs and hosts, include Edge of East and My Week on Welfare.
