James was born in Crystal Lake, Illinois, and grew up in Kennesaw, Georgia. He attended Harrison High School where he found his love for theatre. Voted by his graduating class as 'Most Talented,' his work there led him to attend the The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago where he received his BFA in Acting. He's performed at several regional theaters across the country including The Goodman Theatre in Chicago, The Contemporary American Theatre Fesitival in Shepherdstown, WV and Los Angeles' own Mark Taper Forum. He's also been an ensemble member for The Interact Theatre Company based out of North Hollywood.
