Jamison M. LoCascio - Biography

In 2012, Jamison LoCascio began to write the screenplay for his first union short, "Midnight Catch," an adrenaline pumping thriller. The film premiered to much acclaim at the New Jersey International Film Festival and Manhattan Film Festival, with the spotlight being on LoCascio as only a 19 year old writer/director, tackling heavy themes with style and a personalized touch. LoCascio decided to form his production company, Halcyon Valor Productions Incorporated, that same year. In 2013, LoCascio began work on his second SAG short "A Thin Layer of Ice." The film was honored by the Screen Actors Guild and premiered in their prestigious Short Film Showcase selection to an audience of over 400 members of their union. At 19, LoCascio was again highlighted for his attention to themes with emotional depth and understanding. The film was also highly celebrated due to its diversity in casting, with two starring roles being written white, yet African American Actors were chosen by LoCascio to tell the film's story. In 2013, LoCascio tackled another SAG short "Just Short of Sidekick." The film was chosen to open the New Jersey Film Festival in fall of 2013 and given an honorable mention. "Just Short of Sidekick" was also chosen in the New York City Downtown Short Film Festival, and LoCascio personally received a Maverick Movie Award Nomination for his skill in directing the films climactic fight scene. LoCascio was quick to follow up "Sidekick's" success with another SAG Short "Libby." The film about a middle aged widow trying to find love before undergoing a life altering operation, was unlike anything LoCascio had directed or written before. Starring 3-time Emmy nominated actress Colleen Zenk "Libby" was widely praised across the country, making its world premiere at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival. "Libby" then went on to screen at the Manhattan Film Festival, the Montclair Film Festival, and NewFilmmakers New York. LoCascio, was given great praise for his understanding and communication of not only a middle-aged person's struggles, but that of a middle-aged woman. It was anthologized later in the prestigious Anthology Film Archives in Manhattan. Libby was distributed worldwide on DVD by Spiritual Cinema Circle in 2014. In 2014 again, LoCascio created the SAG short "Track 3" an ambitious drama/thriller about a virus outbreak, set entirely in a train station. "Track 3" was an official selection of the Festival de Cannes Short Film Corner in 2014. The Palm Springs International Film Festival invited "Track 3" to participate in their market place. The film generally received praise as highly original, uniquely stylized work. LoCascio's latest SAG short "A Stranger's Confession," has been selected for the 2015 Festival de Cannes, Short Film Corner, making it LoCascio's second year in a row to be included in the festival. An online distribution company, "Film Bay," picked up five of LoCascio's short films for distribution on their platform in 2015. LoCascio recently completed post-production on his first feature length film, "The Depths," starring Michael Rispoli, Patch Darragh and Charlotte Kirk.
