Janelle Marie - Biography

Janelle Marie was born in South Florida and began her career in the entertainment industry at a very young age. At the tender age of 5, she began to take dance classes for fun where she was approached to participate in a television show known as Sabado Gigante to be apart of their children ensemble. Since then Janelle Marie was continually casted for national campaign commercials, such as McDonald's, Pepsi (featuring Shakira), Red Lobster, and the list goes on. At age 7 she landed a lead hosting role in a children's bilingual television series known as "El show de Lucky" where she filmed 62 episodes. Growing up Janelle continually trained as a competitive dancer at Dance Attack studios, where she studied under the guidance of renowned choreographers Cookie Ramos and John Culbertson. She was also granted the honor of performing at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY. In 2005. From 2005 to 2007 Janelle was selected to be a member of the NBA Miami Heat Jr. Jams, a youth dance ensemble. In addition Janelle grew an interest in music and has performed in local gigs like Relay for life, Calle Ocho Festival among others.

Initially, it was singing that gave Janelle the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles. In 2009 Music Producer, Andrew Lane (High School Musical, Hannah Montana,Disneymania 4, and Manny Fresh) took interest in her and they began to collaborate on projects. It was not until Fall of 2011 that she made the decision to move to Los Angeles to study her craft and broaden her opportunities in her career.

Since her move Janelle Marie has danced in the MTV VMAs, ABC AMAS, Shake it Up Chicago and Austin & Ally. Although she has accepted and participated in smaller acting roles and student films, Janelle Marie will make her debut as an actress in the New TNT Michael Bay Series "The Last Ship" with her role of Karina in July 2014.
