Joe was born in Casa Grande, Arizona, to Denise (Miller), a teacher and singer, and Paul Kevin Jonas, a musician and former ordained minister. He has German, English, Scottish, Irish, Italian (from a great-grandfather), and French-Canadian ancestry.
