Growing up in San Jose, California, Jose went on to graduate from UCLA with a very practical degree in Economics and Philosophy, on the straight and narrow towards the family business of practicing law. After being accepted to law school and just before submitting the first tuition check, he realized that it had never been his own dream and changed course. While modeling with Ford and debating culinary school, Jose took an acting class and realized that all he had ever wanted to do was tell stories.
Partnering with the writer/director Kordo Doski, whom he met in acting class, Jose embarked on a life-changing journey to Kurdistan, Northern Iraq to film the feature about an aging athlete pursuing his dream of playing professional soccer. The film, Mikael, went on to compete at the Duhok International Film Festival. Jose not only produced and starred in the film, he also served as the film's editor. Inspired by the story, Jose returned to his life-long passion of playing soccer and was playing Semi-Pro until the opportunity of a lifetime with Telenovela came along.
Jose Moreno Brooks plays GAEL alongside Eva Longoria on NBC's new comedy, Telenovela. Most recently Jose starred in MTV's One Bad Choice as Stephan Perez in the re-telling of his true-life story. Other credits include a guest star on Nine Lives of Chloe King, as well as roles on The Game and Big Time Rush.
