Julie Simone - Biography

Julie grew up on a farm in the Blue Ridge mountains of southwestern Virginia. While attending the U of South Carolina she modeled and took acting classes in NYC for a summer and was hooked. Never looking back, Julie spent time traveling to Europe while living between NYC and LA. She did theater while continuing to study, act, and model. Julie then went on hiatus for marriage and motherhood but after a divorce, re-embarked on roles behind the camera as well as in front of it. On a trip to Cannes with two divorced friends, Julie, using only her hand held camera directed, shot, and appeared as herself in "Cannes Without A Plan," a reality feature documenting the three women's impulsive trip to the Cannes film festival. A previous collaboration with Jeff Kanew led him to edit and co-produce this comedic, insightful film dealing with divorce, sobriety and being a single mom. The film was as unplanned as the trip itself and proved that just because you are no longer in your 20's or 30's, your life is far from over. In fact perhaps you are just "hitting" your prime! Along with acting again, Julie is also developing and writing projects with Jill Sorensen. They are starting a production company called Calamity J Productions which they hope to launch soon. They aspire to do funny, adventurous and inspiring TV and Film projects, including those with roles for women of all types and ages!
