June Angela - Biography

June Angela grew up working with Morgan Freeman, Bill Cosby and Rita Moreno on the worldwide TV series "The Electric Company" for which she received an Emmy and Grammy Award. On Broadway, she received Tony Award and Drama Desk nominations as Best Leading Actress in a Musical for "Shogun." Extensive theater credits include Tuptim in the Broadway and London Palladium revivals of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "The King and I" with Yul Brynner. On TV, she played Pat Morita's daughter on the series "Mr T. and Tina" and was featured on the Marlo Thomas' Emmy winning special "Free to Be, You and Me" among other shows. She won a Theater Guild Award as Best Lead Actress for the play "Tea" in Los Angeles and was also honored for her work by Off-Broadway's Pan-Asian Repertory Theater. Her debut solo CD released on Original Cast Records features a full orchestra on songs from shows she has done, including a medley from "The Electric Company."
