Karen Abercrombie - Biography

Aliquippa Pennsylvania native, Karen Abercrombie, is an actress, singer-songwriter and a Parents' Choice Award winning storyteller. This summer you can see her in movie theaters around the country, playing the spicy, eighty year old, prayer warrior, Miss Clara, in the Kendrick Brothers (Courageous & Fireproof) new film, "War Room." It has been receiving wonderful reviews and people are raving about Abercrombie's powerful performance as Miss Clara. Karen has guest starred on several television shows and most recently, CBS's new show, The Inspectors. She has also guest starred on Judging Amy, Alley McBeal, Saved by The Bell and Strong Medicine, and she played recurring character, Aberdeen on AMC's TV show, Turn. Karen has a starring role in a new movie called, God's Compass, which is set to come out in the spring of 2016. Abercrombie recently formed her own production company, Handmaiden Entertainment, and will create and produce family-friendly entertainment with thought provoking, engaging and uplifting stories with good role models for children and teens. Children and teens will always be the central characters in these stories. In 2013, Karen released her debut jazz album, "Matters of The Heart," to very favorable reviews and was featured in the jazz music magazine, The Jazz In Me. She was listed among their top new jazz singers to watch. Abercrombie wrote all of the songs on the album. Karen is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and has had the privilege of training under the masterful and highly esteemed drama professor, Dr. Vernelle A. Lillie at the University of Pittsburgh.
