Karen Walton - Biography

Karen Walton is a Canadian screen and television writer-producer. Her credits include the original cult horror film, Ginger Snaps (2000), as well as writing for television series such as Queer As Folk (US), Orphan Black, Flashpoint etc. A graduate of the Canadian Film Centre's Writing residencies, her trophy collection includes a Canadian Comedy Award for Pretty Funny Screenplay, a Gemini (aka Canadian Screen Award) for Best Writing in a Movie or Miniseries, and the Writers Guild of Canada Writers Block Award for her service to the national screenwriters' community, specifically for her Internet initiative to encourage public discourse among professional screenwriters, aka the ad hoc online community, inkcanada. She was born and raised in Nova Scotia, spent her teens and twenties in Alberta, and has worked and lived in Toronto since 1994.
