Katharina Schüttler - Biography

Katharina Schuettler has appeared in many films for cinema and television such as Golden Globe winning production "Carlos" by Olivier Assayas, "Simon and the Oaks" by Lisa Ohlin, "The White Noise" by Hans Weingartner, "Die Innere Sicherheit" by Christian Petzold.

She is best known to English-language audiences for one of the lead performances in Peter Kosminsky's Channel 4 mini-series "The Promise".

In 2006 she received the German Theatre Award "Der Faust" as Best Actress and was voted "Actress of the Year" by the German Theatre Critics for her performance as the lead role in Henrik Ibsen's "Hedda Gabler". She was the youngest actress ever to receive this honour.

For her performance in Michael Hofmann's picture "Sophiiiie!" she won Best Actress at the Munich Film Festival in 2002 and received the "Guenter Strack Nachwuchspreis".

In 2009 she won the "Bavarian Film Prize" as Best Young Actress for her performance in the terrorist-drama "The Day Will Come" ("Es kommt der Tag").

Besides her film works she is one of the leading young theatre actresses in Germany. Her works include "Hedda Gabler", "Penthesilea", "Blasted", "Joan of Arc", "Lolita" and many more.

She was awarded with the renowned "Ulrich Wildgruber Prize 2010".
