Kayla was born to Captain Sandra Esmond at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu Hawaii. She started acting at 8, and continued performing through grade school. She graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theater in May of 2014, and has been performing in film, stage, and dance since. She began producing and assistant directing films in July of 2012. She founded the Kidney Stone Collective, an independent theater company operating in Little Rock Arkansas with fellow actor Jacob Alan Sturgeon and director Ira Grace in January of 2016.
