Keisuke Hoashi - Biography

Keisuke Hoashi is an actor, writer, and producer, easily recognized from over 80 national commercials and 70 memorable guest-starring appearances on hit TV shows, including Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Bob's Burgers, and Mad Men.

Keisuke (pronounced "Case-Kay") is known for his mild-mannered appearance, deadpan wit, and ability to play over-the-top characters, both American and Japanese.

In 2015, he used all these trademark skills on Jimmy Kimmel Live! as a Sanrio rep defending Hello Kitty's honor. ("Hello Kitty is not a cat.") He appeared on Bob's Burgers 2015 season finale (episode "Hawk and Chick") as the voice of Japanese action movie star Hawk 'Koji' Kojima.

Keisuke frequently plays doctors and businessmen, with recent credits on Jane the Virgin, The Fosters, Henry Danger, and the upcoming HBO series Big Little Lies. He has also had memorable guest-starring roles on Mad Men, Heroes, Glee, and the cult hit Better off Ted.

In addition to film and TV, Keisuke has performed in many stage productions with the Venture West Theatre Company, the Classical Theatre Lab, Gily Productions, and Fire Rose Productions, and was one sprained ankle away from appearing in "Paint Your Wagon" at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles.

A writer and musician, he wrote, produced, and performed in the world's first Martial Arts Musical Comedy, "Memoirs of a Ninja," with composer Brian Lewis. The satirical work won five Maddy Awards, five Garland Awards, and was honored as a "The Best Theatre 2000" pick by NiteLife After Dark magazine.

In 2006, he co-founded the New York Summer Music Festival, a summer camp for talented young musicians ages 10 to 25. He created their "Hollywood in Oneonta" program and taught daily classes in filmmaking, acting, and original musical theatre production until conflicts with his acting schedule in Los Angeles forced him to pass the torch in 2013.

In 2016, Keisuke will open MiPAC, the Michigan Performing Arts Camp, with fellow owner/operator Timothy Martuch. Hosted at Adrian College in Adrian, MI, the camp will have up to 200 campers a week; perform 25 public concerts; offer over 30 ensembles and classes; and feature the campers' original music and theatre works.

Keisuke holds a Masters in Technical Communication from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a B.A. in English from the State University of New York, Potsdam. He is a native of Queens, New York and a graduate of Stuyvesant High School.
