Kim Morgan - Biography

Writer Kim Morgan's film, music, and culture articles encompass a wide array of subjects that include the most memorable blondes in movies, the power of cars in cinema, and the greatest twist endings in films. Among the numerous web, print, and television media Kim has written for are Entertainment Weekly, MSN Movies, GQ, IFC, Huffington Post, VH1, LA Weekly, Reel.com, DVD Talk, DVD Journal, Hollywood.com, and Salon. In addition, Morgan writes for her own website Sunset Gun. She served as both a writer and editorial consultant for Click Star. Kim was the head film critic for the Williamette Weekly and the weekly film critic for Portland's daily newspaper The Oregonian (she also had her own column "Beyond the Multiplex" in this latter paper). Morgan writes the movie/car column "Drive, She Said" for the hot rod magazine Garage and runs MSN's daily film blog the Hit List. She worked with Roman Polanski on "The Golden Age of Movies," Morgan Freeman on "Our Space," and as both writer and co-producer on Danny DeVito's documentary TV series "Jersey Docs." Kim owns four cars: a 1974 Datsun 260 Z, a 1978 Datsun 280 Z, a 1968 Ford Falcon, and a 1971 Ford Torino. Morgan married acclaimed filmmaker Guy Maddin on December 11, 2010. She resides in both Los Angeles, California and Winnipeg, Canada.
