Krystin was born and raised in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, Fairfax County. At age three, she began performing in modeling and talent showcases in northern Virginia. At a young age, Krystin began singing, dancing and won several awards competing in talent competitions, and playing the piano. Throughout youth, she loved live performance, and being in front of the camera, but she was also fascinated with roles behind the scenes.
In her teen years, Krystin began working with her own camera equipment, and teaching herself how to edit on various software programs. She started making her own short films, and working for her high school's broadcast news department as a video editor and anchoring on the daily news segment.
As a high school student, Krystin juggled the role of an athlete, participating in swimming, field hockey, lacrosse, and basketball, while also performing in Chantilly High School's nationally competing show choir "Touch of Class." She was awarded the Director's Award for the musical theater program in her junior year. As a senior, she gave up her role as an athlete to devote her time to travel with the musical theater group. She traveled with the team to Chicago and performed at the Oriental Ford Theater. The group was a finalist in the top ten of the country.
Krystin attended Christopher Newport University where she and classmates formed the University's first A cappella group, the "Newport Pearls." She was an Alto II, and the group's lead beat box/percussionist at the time.
At the age of 20, after traveling to perform solo at several talent competitions, she was invited to Los Angeles, California by an agency to audition for several roles in films and TV shows. After several weeks, she returned back to school to finish her college degree.
After two years at Christopher Newport University, Krystin transferred to Florida State University located in Tallahassee Florida. She had hopes of becoming a Cinematographer, and going to FSU's prestigious film school. However, a professor who really enjoyed her writing, asked her to join the University's competitive mass media production department. Krystin was selected by the Producers of the University's "The Leonard Hamilton Show," to be the Feature Reporter for the University's Florida State Men's Basketball Team. This was her first on-air position.
While studying at FSU, Krystin also worked as a Reporter for FOX Sports Florida, a Florida Network Station highlighting the 17 athletic programs at the University which aired all over Florida. She reported, produced, and edited news segments, and was the Sports Reporter for the School's TV program "Seminole Showcase" and "Seminole Sports Magazine." She graduated in April 2008, with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast communication, with a minor in film. She graduated Magna Cum Laude, with honors in Lambda Pi-eta (Communication Honor Society), Oscar Ariaz Sancez (Hispanic Honor Society), Golden Key International Honor Society and Sigma Alpha Lambda (National Leadership Honor Society).
After university, at the age of 21, Krystin accepted a job as a reporter for the CBS affiliate in Tallahassee, Florida, WCTV Eyewitness News. Krystin began as a one-man band On-air Reporter: filming, producing, editing, writing, and reporting the news on-camera. She also anchored and produced an entertainment show for the station called "Weekend Happenings," which aired on Saturday and Sunday mornings in north Florida and southern Georgia.
After a year working in hard news, she left WCTV, and returned to the D.C. area in January of 2009. She attended the Inauguration of President Barack Obama, and the Inaugural Youth Ball with a friend who worked for the Presidential Inauguration Committee (P.I.C.).
In early 2009, Krystin moved to New York City. It was in Manhattan, she met a manager in the fashion industry who took her on as an On-camera talent. She was selected to become the Red Carpet Reporter for the prestigious theater award program, The Drama Desk Awards. She covered the event as the Red Carpet Reporter for the show for three consecutive years.
In late 2009 Krystin moved to Los Angeles, and began auditioning for several roles in TV shows. Her first TV show booking was on NBC Universal's "Attack of the Show," with G4TV. She ended up booking several episodes on the show and became a part of the opening sequence of "Attack of the Show"'s Drunkle Ted segments.
Krystin's first breakout role, was on TNT's "Franklin and Bash," where she opened an episode playing a TV News Reporter.
Krystin now resides in Los Angeles, and New York City. She continues to work as an Anchor, Journalist, where her work can be viewed on USA Today, MSN, The Huffington Post, and Yahoo, among numerous other platforms.
Krystin also continues to work as an Actress. She is best known for her work on "Orange is the New Black," FOX's "The Following," NBC's "American Odyssey," and TNT's "Franklin and Bash."
She is also recognized as a female Aviator, and has been featured on several syndications to promote more women in aviation, including Santa Monica Airport's "Females in Aviation."
