Born in Doncaster, Yorkshire England. From 7yrs old Kya enjoyed classes in Tap & Ballet, before moving on to the Show People Academy, dancing and modeling for Robert Blake. At 18 attended the Anna Scher Theatre School in London. The alumni includes, Pauline Quirke, Patsy Palmer, Dexter Fletcher and Gary Kemp. This is where Kya's passion to be an actress came from. Changing her name to Julianna Kya Garwood which is taken from her mothers side, thought the name would work better than Julie-Ann Melvin. Kya's career started with assisting on local radio stations, including her first job on the Noel's Garden Party Tour. Winning the title of Miss Sheffield 1998, she then went on to represent Yorkshire for Miss United Kingdom. To then host pageants around the world. Gaining opportunities to present on television and live stage. Credits include Channel 4 BSkyB and most recently the Miss Earth UK Final. In 2005 Kya was chosen to stand-in and be the body double for Michelle Pfeiffer successfully then on so for various other leading Hollywood ladies. As for Kya's own acting career this so far includes short films, documentaries, commercials, stage and music productions. In recent years Kya has become established mainstream and is now known to work as a professional actress on big budget feature films and productions.
