Lara Heller - Biography

Lara Heller is a film and theatre actress. She performs in 4 languages fluently; English, German, French and Persian, but can switch effortlessly between 15 different accents and dialects. She spent 13 years as a competitive figure skater, before moving back to the UK to get her degree in Law from the London School of Economics. Lara is one of the lead female protagonists in Fatih Akin's feature film THE CUT which will be in cinemas this autumn. She will be at the Biennale as the film has been shortlisted to compete for the Golden Lion Award at the 71st Venice International Film Festival this month.

Lara Heller's 'appetite' for action roles and sport stunts keep her fit. Water sports include trick-wake boarding, water skiing, surfing, swimming, fly-boarding and diving. Winter sports include 13 years of competitive figure skating and skiing. She is trained in dance, specifically; contemporary, jazz, waltz , salsa and Persian dancing. In her latest feature 'Welcome to Curiosity,' directed by Ben Pickering, Lara plays Duffy. The role was initially intended for a man, but Pickering re-wrote the script when he met Lara and learned of her appetite for extreme sports and action roles.

Born in Brighton and raised in a mountain village in Germany, Switzerland and then Luxembourg, Lara Heller now splits her time between London and LA.

Lara Heller started on the stage in Belgium and Luxembourg where she found a haven in classical plays. Her theatrical debut was at the Old Theatre London, playing the lead role of Goneril in King Lear. She subsequently scored critical success with her portrayal of Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream. With a string of Shakespearian plays to her name, Lara was accepted into the prestigious Arts Educational Schools where Julie Andrews trained.
