Laura was born on March 8 1981. A native of Aberdeen she began performing as a child in local productions of 'The Sound of Music' and 'Annie'. She read history at Aberdeen University where she was part of a drama group called Treading the Boards, and on graduation she came to London to study acting at the Webber Douglas Academy. She has performed on stage with the Royal Shakespeare Company and, after a series of small roles in television series, in 2011 became an original cast member of the popular show 'Call the Midwife'.
