Lavinia Iskandar Salim was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. She is the daughter of Aylen Salim and David Iskandar and has one brother, Evan Iskandar Salim. Nia graduated in 2000 from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, majoring in business marketing and administration. She is outgoing very well educated and with vision to help the disadvantage children with their needs. To love and care for them.
She is the granddaughter of one of the most richest and powerful dignitaries that passed away in peace Mr and Mrs Soedarmo Salim alias Liem Sioe Kong. Soedarmo Salim was the founder of Bank Windu Kentjana. Bank Windu Kentjana has 74 branches in Indonesia and also owned several successful companies, apartment buildings and shopping mall. The Salim family was very close friends with the former President of Indonesia, Suharto back in 1960's. Soedono Salim alias Liem Sioe Liong, who is Liem Sioe Kongs' brother was one of the first richest business man in Indonesia for over 30 years.
Nias' hobby is riding horses. She is one of the best Equestrian Show Jumper whereas she has competed in National Championship and won a total of 98 Medals, Trophies and Rosettes for her horses. Her champion horses are La Luna H 2 from (German Oldenburg), Iris Attraction (New Zealand), Iceberg (Thoroughbred) and Steven (Thoroughbred).
