Lisa Ovies - Biography

Lisa Ovies is an award winning producer, director, actress and writer residing in Vancouver, Canada. For the last 12 years her passion for other cultures has lead her to travel to well over 20 countries across the world. Always an adventure seeker Lisa has done everything from Sandboarding the world's tallest sand dune in Peru to surfing in Indonesia. She has been a professional SCUBA diver, a competitive rock climber, a Swing dance instructor and an avid snowboarder for 17 years. In addition to her extensive travel experience, Lisa has trained at Vancouver Film School in documentary film, production and scriptwriting; as well as received a scholarship in 2006 to Columbia Academy of Broadcasting where she excelled in her field. In 2008 she began pursuing her love of acting by attending the full time program at Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts and in June 2011, she launched the film company I No.Films. Since then, she received a full scholarship to Women in the Directors Chair for the art dept and most recently received a scholarship to Chicago Second City where she spent the better part of the summer of 2014 working on her improv and sketch writing. 2014 was a ground breaking year for Lisa, She produced an award winning music video, 4 short films, two of which were directed by the award winning Soska twins, and her feature film "Taking My Parents to Burning Man" took home audience choice awards at the Sonoma International Film Festival, the Newport Beach Film Festival and the Maui Film Festival. She had her directorial debut on the comedy "I Wanna Date You" and is set to direct her first feature film, the comedic Horror "Puppet Killer" in December 2015, which she is also producing and co-writing. Her latest features 'Suspension' and 'Shooting the Musical' are taking home countless awards on the festival circuit.
