Lolita Ritmanis - Biography

Lolita Ritmanis is a ten time Emmy Award nominated composer, having won this award in 2002 for her work on the animated series Batman Beyond for outstanding music composition. Lolita received her first Primetime Emmy Nomination for her Main Title Theme for the Warner Bros. television series Justice League. Her second Primetime Emmy Nomination was shared with Michael McCuistion, Kristopher Carter, James Tucker and Michael Jelenic for their musical - Batman: The Brave and the Bold - Mayhem of the Music Meister, starring Neil Patrick Harris. Lolitas first feature length score was for Warner Bros. Mystery of the Batwoman. Lolita is a founding member of Dynamic Music Partners, a title she proudly holds alongside partners Michael McCuistion and Kristopher Carter. Lolita, Michael and Kristopher are composing music for hit TV series: Marvel's Avengers Assemble, feature length DTV Marvel's Superhero Adventure: Frost Fight, documentary film: An Act of Love, radio-play audio book Rain of the Ghosts, and feature film Give Til It Hurts. Past credits include: Feature films: Broke Sky, Dangerous Calling, Television series: Teen Titans, Spectacular Spider-Man, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Ben 10, Justice League Unlimited, Batman: The Animated Series, Superman, Kaijudo, The Zeta Project, Legion of Super Heroes, Tower Prep, Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Lolita's concert works as well as four original musicals have been performed throughout the US, Canada, Europe, Taiwan and Australia. Her cantata A New Day was performed at Lincoln Center in New York City. Her 2015 commissioned concert work for project: Rothko in Jazz was premiered at the The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Her musical Eslingena, co-written with Alberts Legzdins and Andris Ritmanis was performed in Riga, and other cities throughout the 2014-2015 season, bookended by the attendance of 2 separate sitting presidents of Latvia. Lolita's symphonic work Overture to Light was performed in October, 2014 as part of the World Latvian Cultural Conference in Riga, Latvia. In July of 2015, Lolita attended the Youth Song Festival in Riga, where her song In My Heart (lyrics by Mara Zalite) was performed by a 15,000 voice choir at the grand festival concert.

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Lolita moved to Los Angeles to attend The Dick Grove School of Music. Having completed the Composing and Arranging Program as well as the Film Composition Program, where she had the great honor of studying with Dick Grove, Mundell Lowe, as well as guest instructors Lalo Schifrin, Henry Mancini, and others. Lolita began working in the film and television music industry at the age of 22, working in the Warner Bros. music department, as well as freelancing around Los Angeles. This gradually led to work as an orchestrator for composers Michael Kamen, Basil Poledouris, Mark Snow and Shirley Walker (to name but a few). She was an orchestrator on over 100 films, mini-series and television programs, including Lethal Weapon 4, X-Files Movie, Robin Hood-Prince of Thieves.

Lolita is married to music producer Mark Mattson. They have three children. Lolita is member of the Television Academy, NARAS, SCL, and is a founding member of the Alliance for Women Film Composers.
