Lorne Cardinal - Biography

Lorne Cardinal is an Actor and Director well known for his role as "Sergeant Davis Quinton" on 6 seasons of CTV's Corner Gas (2004). Following the series, Lorne has starred in the films Rust (2010) with Corbin Bernsen Disney's Flicka 2: Amies pour la vie (2010), Path of Souls (2012), The Shape of Rex (2013), Pilgrims (2013) and as 'Zach Ward' on CBC's Arctic Air (2012). With 25 years acting experience, Lorne's acquired over 70 professional Film & TV credits and there's lots in store including films Loin des yeux, loin du coeur (2014), Les yeux de l'amitié (2013) and the much anticipated Corner Gas: The Movie (2014).

On the stage, Lorne's acted in touring productions of Where the Blood Mixes, Thunderstick and he took on the 'Narrator' role in Michel Tremblay's For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again which was voted audience favorite at the Magnetic North Festival. Lorne's also directed many theatre productions including Tomson Highways' Ernestine Shushwap Gets Her Trout, Three Little Birds and he did double-duty playing the role of the Duke of Albany and Assistant Directing an all-star Native cast, including August Schellenberg, in Shakespeare's King Lear on the main stage of the National Art Centre in Ottawa.

Not only does Lorne direct for theatre, he's directed numerous episodes for TV series such as Renegadepress.com (2004), Moccasin Flats (2003) and Rabbit Fall (2006). Why stop there? Lorne's made the leap into producing as well with a documentary film Chasing Lear (2016).

A comedy favorite, Lorne was invited to take part in _Royal Canadian Air Farce_ Air Farce Not the New Year's Special and is a recurring host for award shows like the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards, National Aboriginal Day, The Dreamcatcher Gala, Winnipeg Comedy Festival 2009 (2009) and CBC's Alberta Comedy Spectacular - Turtle Island Too (2010) and he's hosted The Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards (2013) for 8 years in a row! Film & TV credits include: Au nord du 60e (1992), Moccasin Flats: Redemption (2008), APTN pilot Wolf Canyon (2009), Insomnia (2002) with Al Pacino, Fallen Angel with Gary Sinise, La prison de glace (2003) with Susan Sarandon, Tecumseh: The Last Warrior (1995), In the Blue Ground: A north of 60 mystery (1999), Crazy Horse, le plus grand d'entre nous (1996) with Ned Beatty, Renegadepress.com (2004), Elijah (2007) , Blackfly (2001), Lonesome Dove (1994), Jake and the Kid (1995), Snowmageddon (2011) (aired as Snowglobe Christmas on Movie Central) and the voice on two animated series - 'Wumpa' on Wumpa's World (2001) and 'Jacob' on the Gemini Award winning animated Wapos Bay: The Series (2005).

Doctor Cardinal is the recipient of an honorary PhD from Thompson Rivers University and he's received numerous nominations for his body of work as well as winning two Gemini Awards for Wapos Bay: The Series (2005) and Corner Gas (2004). Lorne lives with producer, writer & comedian Monique Hurteau on the west coast of British Columbia.
