Luminita Gheorghiu - Biography

Luminita Gheorghiu studied Ion Cojar's method acting under Ion Cojar himself at what is now called National University of Theatre and Film from Bucharest. She played in tens of movies and theatre shows since she graduated in 1972, but her real international breakthrough came with her role in the critically acclaimed La mort de Dante Lazarescu (2005), for which she won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress. With her performance in Mère et fils (2013), Luminita was nominated at the European Film Awards for Best Actress.
