MacKenzie Bourg - Biography

MacKenzie Bourg is living his story. The singer/songwriter captivated America with his soulful sound, infectious personality and powerful personal story on NBC's hit talent show "The Voice". This February, Bourg released his first single "Everyone's Got a Story," which debuted on the iTunes Pop Charts in the Top 60.

MacKenzie Bourg's own story begins in Bayou country. Born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, he loves the simple things such as riding bikes, Xbox, and Basketball. MacKenzie has incredible skill with the ball despite his 5'6 stature (he played varsity in high school), but it is his musical talents that propelled him to national attention. The young singer famously landed a coveted spot on "Team CeeLo [Green]" for the third season of "The Voice" with an inspired cover of Foster the People's #1 Single "Pumped Up Kicks". MacKenzie's natural ability to feel the crowd energy and understand what they want from him as a performer inspired judge Adam Levine to label him "an American Idol".

While on the show, MacKenzie revealed that barely a year before his audition for "The Voice", a rogue virus had shut down his organs leading to congestive heart failure. Today, MacKenzie looks at life a little differently than before his illness. His music reflects an unbridled optimism coupled with a passion for discovery. His lyrics tell us that "Everyone's Got a Story" and encourage us to "live" ours. And for millions of his "MacPack" fans, MacKenzie's voice and heart are in the right place.

Currently, Mackenzie is in studio with plans on releasing his first EP this summer.
