Melody Miyuki Ishikawa was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii on February 24, 1982. She is the oldest of three daughters to Japanese immigrants. Melody graduated from Punahou School in 2000. At the age of 19, she moved to Tokyo, Japan and rose to prominence for her song cover. Additionally, several of her songs were featured on TV shows.
From 2002 to 2008, Melody released independent music and found small fame through television shows and popular music.
As Melody is fluent in English, being born and raised in America, she was chosen to host the 2007 TV show "J-Melo".
In March 2009, Melody married Miyavi while five months pregnant. The couple have two daughters.
