Michael D. Ratner - Biography

Michael D. Ratner is a 26-year-old writer, director, and producer based out of Los Angeles. He is currently show running a scripted comedy for Verizon's new over-the-top network, go90, as well as directing and producing a short film for ESPN's acclaimed 30 for 30 series on Hunter S. Thompson which is set to premiere at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. Throughout the past year, Ratner has executive produced feature-length documentaries "Dwight Howard: In the Moment" for EPIX and "In Football We Trust", an official 2015 Sundance Film Festival selection alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and is in post-production on his next feature, "One in a Billion", the story of Satnam Singh Bhamara, the first ever Indian-born player drafted in the NBA.

Ratner's romantic comedy film "The 30 Year Old Bris" (writer, director, producer) was an official selection of the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival. Soon after, Ratner took home five New York Emmy Awards for his directing work on "The Lineup: Sports Movies" in the categories of "Entertainment: Program/Special", "Sports: Interview/Discussion" and "Sports: One-Time Special". In the music space, Ratner produced the music video for Puff Daddy's "I Want the Love (feat Meek Mill)" in addition to several viral music videos for New York radio station Hot 97. He also directed and produced the late New York Governor Mario Cuomo's documentary "More than Words" with Jane Rosenthal of Tribeca films. Ratner has previously been hired to create content for companies including AMC Networks, The Weinstein Company, Dimension Films, Relativity Media, TNT, and Fuse.

He founded OBB Pictures in 2010 while he was a student at the University of Pennsylvania where he majored in Film and minored in English with Summa Cum Laude honors. In May of 2014, Ratner graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with a Masters of Fine Arts in film directing, writing, and producing.
