Nathan Witte - Biography

Nathan Witte, originally from Calgary, Alberta was born to entertain. From home videos as kid with his siblings, to being a class clown, in and out of drama class, and playing a blonde female English teacher in his grade seven Christmas play A Christmas Extravaganza. Nathan has enjoyed making people around him smile and laugh ever since he was a young kid.

He got his first real taste of the film industry when he and his siblings were extras on the hit TV series Caitlin's Way. It was on this show that he garnered a little attention and was sought after to have a small part in the feature film Rat Race but later found out the role was given to another. After doing extra work as a young kid it wasn't until in his late teens did Nathan realize that he wanted to be more in front of the camera. At age 17 he began doing stand-in work for local TV shows and films, one film in particular was Resurrecting the Champ with Josh Hartnett and Samuel L. Jackson. Doing these jobs had been a great joy and inspiration for Nathan as he had the opportunity to watch behind the scenes and really start taking in the technical side of the industry, however, his acting bug wasn't satisfied as he wanted lines and more screen time but he was unsure on how to really "break" into the industry.

It wasn't until Nathan was 19 years old that he started taking acting more seriously and looking for representation outside of extra and stand-in work. Signed to an agent that took his money before booking gigs, he wasn't deterred, but determined to "pay dues" like everyone else. It wasn't until his best friend told him to go to a Pro Scout event to see if he really had the talent and the passion to be in the industry. Nathan couldn't pass up the one in a lifetime opportunity. With the event costing Nathan a month's worth of his rent at the time he saved up and memorized his favorite monologue and headed to Banff to see if he could make it as an actor. With over 50 agents at the event and hundreds of applicants Nathan performed his monologue in front of a huge auditorium where he grabbed the attention of acting and modeling agencies across North America from Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. After meeting with all the agents Nathan found that moving out west was his best chance at success.

In 2007, by himself, he made the move to Vancouver to a city where he knew no one and landed himself roles on 2 feature films Finder of Lost Children & Gutterballs whilst also landing a guest star role on the TV series, The Assistants. This was exactly the kind of encouragement Nathan needed to reinforce his commitment to the business. Over the course of his 9 years in Vancouver he's been training regularly, auditioning more then ever and has had the privilege of working on such hit TV shows as Smallville, Supernatural, Hellcats, Arctic Air, Arrow, Rogue, & Motive.

Recently Nathan has gone on to book four new roles, including a principle in a short film for the Crazy8's Film Festival, Meet Cute; a role on the new anticipated series, Van Helsing; the new M. Night Shyamalan hit series, Wayward Pines; and also managed to snag a role in the feature film, Ms. Matched.

If that isn't enough to keep him busy, after 5 years in the making Nathan and his business partner Chad Rook of CheckMate Films are in post production of their highly anticipated 1st feature film they coined as a "bromantic" comedy, The Perfect Pickup. Nathan plays a lead role as well as a lead producer on the project. The film is looking at a summer release in 2016 with the anticipation of leaving the audience laughing and quoting out of the theatre.

Keep an eye out for Nathan and CheckMate Films. With the completion of The Perfect Pickup it looks like their next project Walk the Walk will be green-lit.
