Nina Gilhooly - Biography

Nina Gilhooly is a British Actress. She was raised by her mother Patricia above a Public House in Carlisle, England. A keen swimmer, Nina trained with The Border City Swimming Team in Cumbria before relocating to Manchester at Eighteen to study Performance Arts and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in 2003 from The University of Salford.

A number of small TV and Commercial roles followed until she was offered a place at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. She Graduated from The Academy in 2010 and returned to the UK, relocating to London where she was offered further roles in British Television Drama including BBC's Waterloo Road and Inspector George Gently.

Here she completed her Stage Combat Training, including Sword and Body Combat which led her to focus on Martial Arts such as Kung-Fu and Kendo.

As a jobbing Actress, she was cast in "Blood and Bone China", a Victorian Vampire TV Series Produced and Directed by Chris Stone Films. After meeting on set, Chris Stone went on to offer Nina several roles in further Productions under his Film Company, including "Carrie", the Female Action Heroine in the Music Video "I'll be Damned" as well as "Helen", leading Actress in his Short Film "The Psychopath".

Both productions were nominated at The Limelight Film Awards Ceremony 2014 in London under the "Best Music Video" and "Best Short Thriller" categories.

Soon after, her natural flair for accents won Nina the Scottish role of "Isabella" in the "Starz" TV adaptation of "Outlander". Shot on location in Glasgow and set in the 1700's "Outlander is based on the Best-Selling Novels by Diana Gabaldon, "Outlander" is set for TV release across the USA and Canada.
