Spanish actress/writer Paula Roman was born in Seville, the city that has spawned a great number of brave bullfighters, talented Flamenco dancers and doctors who want to heal the world with laughter, like her. Yes, once some very patient patients used to call her Doctor Roman, a very dangerous thing to do, but don't worry it didn't take long until she decided to swap the hospital for the theater, the scalpel for the stage, and Seville for New York and Hollywood! Paula studied drama at Herbert Berghof and Uta Hagen HB Studio in New York; improvisation and comedy sketch writing at UCB; screen-writing courses at NYU, and with several prestigious teachers, like Robert Mckee. After starring in several independent short movies and on the Off Off Broadway theater scene in New York, Paula co-produced her first production, the play "The Color of August" that took her to the underground Sydney stage in Australia. Fresh from the Antipodes, Paula co-created, co-produced and starred in the pilot presentation of "La Manzana" (The Apple), an original half-hour single camera TV series, winning Best Acting Award at the ITV FEST in LA (2010). Her third project, the short film "Blackout" (2012), had a successful run at international film festivals around the world, winning Best Actress awards at Rome International film Festival (2013), Nyc International Film Festival (2012) and La comedy Film Festival (2012), and a Best Comedy Award at Lady Filmmakers film Festival (2012) in Beverly Hills. Paula is currently working on her first feature film script based on her short film "Blackout" and has developed a new web series called "Victoria in the Nude," where the main character Victoria Welcome is inspired by events in her life. She is also working on a collection of short stories titled "Dr. Roman," which is based on funny stories of her life as a doctor, actress and woman who always gets into trouble.
